Biebrich Palace, one of the most important Baroque palaces along the Rhine, is located directly on the banks of the Rhine in the Wiesbaden district of Biebrich. Today it is used by the Hessian state government for representational purposes and is also the venue for numerous conferences and celebrations.

The Neroberg is the local mountain of Wiesbaden, the capital of Hesse, and is one of the most popular destinations. A special attraction is the Nerobergbahn, two small yellow and blue mountain railway cars that travel up and down the mountain at 7.3 kilometres per hour. Here, visitors can not only enjoy a beautiful view of Wiesbaden, but also experience the sophisticated technology from a bygone era up close.

Since 1993, Freudenberg Castle in the Dotzheim district has been a field of experience for the development of the senses and thinking. At over 100 stations, visitors are playfully introduced to natural phenomena such as balance, gravity, light and darkness, sound and resonance. Two of the highlights are the dark bar and dark corridors, an experience guests will not soon forget.

The Kurhaus in Wiesbaden is one of the most magnificent festive buildings in Germany. It is the social centre of the spa town and provides a prestigious setting for all kinds of events. The Wiesbaden Kurpark, which begins directly behind the Kurhaus, offers a diverse flora over an area of about 75,000 square metres. 

The "Casino Wiesbaden" is one of Germany's oldest casinos. The casino has experienced numerous changes during the course of its history, but today, it resides in the former wine salon of the Kurhaus. In addition to roulette and American roulette, roulighth, black jack and poker are played.

The Kochbrunnen, Wiesbaden's landmark, is a public drinking fountain in the city centre and Wiesbaden's most famous thermal spring of all. The name of the sodium chloride thermal spring, which was the focus of Wiesbaden's drinking cure in the 19th century, is based on its water temperature of 66 °C.

The exhibits of the Wiesbaden Museum range from prehistory to the present day and are divided into the Old Masters Collection, Classical Modern Art, Modern and Contemporary Art and the Natural History Collections.

Take a look behind the scenes at Henkell Freixenet in Wiesbaden. Be impressed by the imposing Rococo-style marble hall, the 200,000-litre champagne barrels in the seven-storey deep wine cellars and the champagne factory in the modern glass cube. Look over the shoulders of the production as part of a guided tour. 

Tours are available Monday to Friday from 12 to 6 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

In addition to the indoor and outdoor pools, which are open all year round, the Aukammtal thermal baths also have a well-maintained outdoor area with green spaces, a shower bath and several rest areas to relax and unwind. The water temperature of the thermal pools is around 32 degrees Celsius.

The pheasantry, run by the state capital Wiesbaden, has an area of about 23 hectares in the Wiesbaden city forest in the north-west of the city.

Summer daily from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Winter daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

On the edge of the city forest, directly on the Wiesbaden Neroberg, is the Neroberg Climbing Forest. With numerous courses and different levels of difficulty, there is something for everyone here. Even the youngest children can climb on the children's course from the age of 4, accompanied by an adult.

14th and 15th June 2024

Every year on the second weekend in June, the city's largest open-air event awaits you on two consecutive days. In addition to numerous culinary specialities, an arts and crafts market, fairground rides and a varied entertainment programme attract visitors. 

6 July 2024

Marvel at the "Rhine in Flames" between Trechtingshausen and Bingen/Rüdesheim. On numerous boats, you will experience how the Upper Middle Rhine Valley is lit up with red Bengal fire on this evening. Mountains and castles are illuminated and magical fireworks light up the dark night.

12th to 15th July 2024

The popular Schierstein Harbour Festival will be celebrated for the 76th time around Schierstein Harbour from Friday to Monday. An amusement park, numerous culinary offerings on the harbour promenade, the dragon boat race on Saturday and river swimming for everyone attract numerous guests from the Rhine-Main region.

For ten days in August, Wiesbaden is always the capital of wine. The Rheingau Wine Week on Schlossplatz and the Dern'schen grounds offers over a thousand different wines as well as culinary delights at around 120 stands every day.
 

27th to 29th September 2024

Traditionally held on the last weekend in September, the city festival combines an autumn market, open Sunday sales and a car show on the festival weekend. A highlight for many visitors is the free concert with well-known artists on Friday evening on the Dern'schen grounds.

26th November to 23rd December 2024 

The Christmas market on Schlossplatz with its unusual lighting is known as the Shooting Star Market. In addition to numerous arts and crafts stalls and delicacies, the market offers a varied music programme on the stage in front of the town hall.
